Introduction. The site was the former location of a industrial coatings manufacturer. The purpose of this effort was to confirm the post remediation site was clean enough for closure.
Site Closure. Evangelista collected and analyzed soil samples for chemicals of concern, and surveyed sample locations with a Global Positioning System (GPS). A followup geophysical subsurface scan using ground penetrating radar and GPS found unknown drums containing solvent wastes. These drums and surrounding soil were sampled, analyzed excavated for disposal. The success of this site closure greatly reduced the environmental health risk to residents in adjacent homes.
