BIOCHEMICAL ENGINEER & CHEMIST FOR BIOFUELS & THE ENVIRONMENT

PROGRAM REVISION AND EXPANSION

Evangelista revised and expanded the Environmental Technology program of Southwestern College from one to two program areas of specialty---Environmental Management and Occupational Health and Safety. Evangelista also created new courses for this program improvement. As a signal of success, the program revision and expansion was approved by the State of California.

SWCNationalCityThe Environmetal Technology program was expanded onto a new second campus, close to the Naval bases.

Environmental Technology courses were shortened to six weeks to minimize noncompletion of courses by Naval personnel who were routinely deployed overseas. This change gave all Environmental Technology students an opportunity for completion.

The multi-media collection was increased, field trips developed, environmental auditing of the campus established, and connections with the business community instituted
